About Me

My Background

I'm a lifelong reader and learner, now a writer/consultant specializing in English Language Learners. I have a BA in elementary education, and Masters degrees in Educational Supervision, Curriculum & Instruction, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MATESOL).

Teaching and Writing

MANY years of public school experience as a classroom teacher, teacher trainer, and ESOL specialist. Primary source research kits that I worked on for the Library of Congress were recently awarded Best Open Online Resource by the PBS umbrella group, National Education Telecommunication Association (NETA). An unexpected honor! See them at thinkport.org - Special Collections - Teaching With Primary Sources. If you have struggling gr. 5 - 12 readers who have to do History research, this is a perfect place to look for visual documents with supported language.
